Jesus is Watching Our Backs

Devotion: Monday – August 18, 2008

“Acts Chapter 9 records how Paul, before becoming a Christian, persecuted the church. Paul obtained permission to go to Damascus to find followers of Christ, bind them, and bring them back to Jerusalem. The saints in Damascus may have been unaware of the enemy’s plans against them. Yet, before Paul reached Damascus, he was struck down by the resurrected Lord. God intervened and prevented him from carrying out his evil intentions.

How many times throughout the day are there evil plots launched against us that we are completely unaware of? How often does the enemy plan to destroy us, but God steps in to protect us?

Let us take a moment to thank the Lord today. Even when we are unaware, He is behind the scenes, fighting our battles. Day by day, as we journey through life, Jesus is watching our backs.”

Summary

This devotion reminds us of God’s constant protection, even from unseen dangers. Drawing from the story of Paul in Acts 9, we see how God intervened to stop evil plans before they could harm His people. Similarly, God works behind the scenes in our lives, thwarting the enemy’s schemes and shielding us from harm. The message encourages gratitude for Jesus’ unwavering care and vigilance over us every day.
